Procyon was designed and built by one of the most prestigious teams
in the American sailing industry. The design parameters were to make
a cruising yacht that was considerably faster than conventional yachts,
more comfortable, easier to sail with fewer crew, fast and easy to set
sail and get underway, with interior and exterior styling that was modern
and beautiful. Immediately visible are Procyon's trademark 81ft bi-pod mast,
sculptured boom and hydraulic main sail and jib furling systems. Not visible
is the huge wing keel, which can be adjusted hydraulically to maximize speed
or flatten the ride in any wind conditions. The design concepts, engineering
and  construction have been an unparalleled success. The yacht has received wide
acclaim since its launching in April 1991. In 1993 SAIL Magazine hailed
Procyon one of the top 100 yachts of the century.

RESTORATION

In 1998 a fire at the shore power connection caused smoke damage to the entire boat. Procyon was moved to Fantastic Finishes in Ashtabula, Ohio, where the boat was completely gutted. Along with an entirely new interior, a generator was added and all new wiring and plumbing was installed, along with upgrades to many of the systems. The appliances, home entertainment center, and all electronics were replaced. From the quarter-round spiral teak companionway steps, corian countertops, and elegant leather seating, to spacious berths, Procyon now has an interior which rivals any mega-yacht available. Fresh paint on her hull, deck, and graphic non-skid revives her to her original beauty. The $600,000 restoration project was completed in the summer of 2002.
